Concrete mixer gearboxes transmit the rotational movement from a hydraulic motor to the drum.

The main bearing that support the load transmitted from the drum has a crucial role in reliability. Due to the applied load the main bearings that supports the application needs to be able to absorb heavy axial and radial loads and hence BMI engineers have designed a robust solution with special material to ensure long life.

MAINTENANCE TIPS: Concrete Mixers

Concrete mixer maintenance involves the following:

  1. Check and clean the concrete mixer.

  2. Check the link status between the mixing arm and blades.

  3. Check the reducer.

  4. Check the running condition of the concrete plant.

  5. Lubricate the two ends of the main shaft bearing and the discharging door.

Technical staff should follow the checklist below:

  • After each shift, clean concrete and other dirt adhering to the inside and outside of the concrete mixer, then wash with salt water.

  • Weekly, check the concrete bonding status inside the concrete plant and the cement adhesion condition on the spray pipe.

  • Check all connecting screws to ensure there is no loosening or serious wear, in order to prevent accidents.

  • After each shift, check the temperature rise of the drive motor. If the motor overheats, identify the cause to prevent malfunction.

  • During operation, the concrete mixer should run smoothly without abnormal sounds. The discharging door should open and close easily, with a tight seal showing no leakage.

  • Lubricate the machine after each shift.
