A thrust ball bearing is a specialized rotary bearing designed to support axial (thrust) loads at high speeds while providing minimal friction. It consists of two washers (shaft and housing washers) with raceways and a ball and cage assembly. Unlike radial bearings, thrust ball bearings cannot accommodate any radial loads and must be subjected to pure axial loading.
